Dr. Erwan Le Roux

Picture1.png

Dr. Erwan Le Roux joined the Chemistry department at the University of Bergen, Norway, as an associate professor in 2011. Prior to this, he served as a lecturer in organometallic chemistry for two years and then as a temporary associate professor in nanochemistry. He completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in the group of Prof. R. Anwander at the same university, focusing on coordination complexes of lanthanides for intramolecular hydroamination of aminoalkenes and polymerization of isopropene.

Before moving to Norway, Dr. Le Roux spent a year as a postdoctoral fellow in the research team of Dr. M. Peruzzini and Dr. L. Gonsalvi at the Institute of Chemistry in Florence (ICCOM-CNR, Italy), working on ruthenium and iridium metal hydrides for the selective asymmetric hydrogenation of alkyl aryl ketones. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2004 under the supervision of Prof. Jean-Marie Basset and Prof. Christophe Copéret at CPE-University of Lyon, where he investigated a new generation of tantalum and tungsten catalysts for alkane metathesis and the direct transformation of ethylene to propylene. He also earned his master's degree in chemistry from the University of Rennes, working on ruthenium allenylidene complexes as molecular wires.

Currently, Le Roux's research focuses on designing organometallic complexes based on non-endangered elements for small molecule activation (CO2, N2 and α-olefins) to develop sustainable polymers and as well as in the development of novel radiopharmaceuticals based on titanium-45.
